Both Feet Actor Head Shots

Recently, James spent the day in Manchester at Hope Mill Theatre working with the fantastic Steph from the working actor training company, Both Feet. Steph wanted to try a new format for capturing her actors’ head shots as it can be a daunting experience.

Steph needed a photographer who she knew would put her clients at ease and would work efficiently and effectively to accomplish all that was planned. The brief was that the actors would spend approximately an hour each in front of the camera throughout the day, allowing for wardrobe changes and the use of varying backdrops. We had a total of eight actors with us on the day, each with different styles, roles and aspirations in the acting world.

Throughout the day all the images were transferred to the laptop so each of the clients were able to review them and start highlighting images that they’d like to make their final selections from at a later date. This worked really well as it’s not something that the actors normally get to do whilst having their head shots taken. Confidence built throughout the day as they could see that they were getting some fantastic images that they were really happy with.

Thank you so much for a brilliant day, most at ease I’ve ever felt getting photos taken!

-James Knight

Creating a rapport with the actors was essential, James got to know everyone of them throughout the day and this helped get them get the best out of themselves. James wanted to ensure that everyone had the chance to have some natural light portraits too, with the industrial backdrop of the surrounding area it was the perfect place to have a scout about and find some interesting backdrops.

Big thumbs up from James Knight.

From the feedback that we’ve received everyone had a fantastic day and it’s definitely something they’d do again in future when in need of more headshots.
